Shrinkflation

Shrinkflation register

Same price. Smaller pack.

Shrinkflation is a smaller pack for the same price. The packaging barely looks different; the price per kilo or litre very much does. At every price measurement Besparro compares a product’s pack size with the previous measurement, and the confirmed cases are kept below.

0 confirmed cases.

How we check this. A change in pack size is recorded automatically, but never published automatically. Every case below has been checked and confirmed by hand. Cases caused by a measurement error, a promotion or a changed product link do not make this list.

Frequently asked questions

Is shrinkflation illegal?
No. A manufacturer may change the contents of a pack, as long as the stated pack size is correct. It does stay invisible to most people, though, because the price on the shelf remains the same.
Where does this data come from?
From the supermarkets’ own public product data. We compare a product’s stated pack size with what that same store listed for it earlier.
Is something wrong here?
Report it from the product page. We take down cases that turn out to be unfounded — which is also why a person always reviews a case before it appears here.
